Dr Emma Egging returned to Bournemouth today two years after the death of her husband.

Flight lieutenant Jon Egging was killed after his Hawk T1 aircraft crashed in a field near Throop Mill following a display at the festival in 2011.

Dr Egging met visitors to the town at the Jon Egging Trust tent on Pier Approach.

The charity was established to provide opportunities for disadvantaged young people to reach their full potential.

Dr Egging said: “We have been working with young people from Bournemouth, which has been wonderful for us.

“Thanks to the Echo and other local media, at the stall here today, people aren’t coming up and asking us what the trust is about. They already know and they’re coming to say congratulations, which is just brilliant for us.”

The trust is expanding into Norfolk, Wales, Yorkshire and Scotland thanks to its early success in Bournemouth.

Dr Egging said: “We really are nationwide now.

“It’s very exciting. We are growing so fast.”

She said returning to the air festival two years following the death of her flight lieutenant husband has “not been easy” but added: “We are so proud of what has been achieved in his name.”
