THOUSANDS stood underneath a pink sky to watch the dazzling Night Air display at the close of the air festival’s first day yesterday.

The evening began in fine style as the Rolls Royce Spitfire thundered above the crowds, performing daring loops hundreds of feet in the air.

The team from GO Skydive appeared by stealth minutes later, suddenly dropping out of the heavens to land gracefully on the beach.

As the evening grew darker, the throngs of visitors lining the clifftop and beach were treated to a fine display from O’Brien’s Flying Circus, lit up with spectacular flashes of colour.

The bright lights continued with a visit from SWIP Team, burning through the skies in perfect tandem as they trailed fireworks.

And the night ended with a bang as the Red Devils parachuted daringly over the sea before a firework display on the sand.
