AFTER a successful start, work on the Boscombe surf reef has been temporarily suspended due to high winds.
The team laid the first sections during the air festival but had to stop on Sunday and they are not expected to be able to start again until this Sunday.
"We partially filled the bags with sand to keep them in place, but we had to take the pipes in," said construction manager David Neilson, from the construction firm ASR.
The workmen need spells of around five days good weather in a row.
Mr Neilson said: "The long term forecasts are for an Indian summer, but September hasn't started that way!"
Work is due to be completed around the end of October.
