Great British Bake Off (GBBO) returned for the fourth episode of the 2021 series this week with one more baker leaving the show.
Each week amateur bakers take part in baking challenges where they attempt to pull off signature, technical and showstopper bakes.
Every episode is a combination of a baking week and this week’s episode showed the bakers taking on dessert week.
Who left Great British Bake Off this week?
Unfortunately, another episode of GBBO meant another contestant had to leave.
This time it was Maggie’s turn to say goodbye to the Bake Off tent.
The 70-year-old retired midwife and nurse from Dorset will not take part in any further challenges.
We’re so sad to see Maggie leave the Bake Off Tent - and what an absolute pleasure it’s been! Through the pies and the lows, she kept smiling. What an inspiration. #GBBO pic.twitter.com/bFY0MT2Mmf

The programme’s Twitter account posted a message as the news broke that Maggie would be leaving, writing: “We’re so sad to see Maggie leave the Bake Off Tent – and what an absolute pleasure it’s been! Through the pies and lows, she kept smiling. What an inspiration. #GBBO”
Who won star baker for dessert week?
At the end of the episode we saw Chigs, a 40-year-old sales manager from Leicestershire, crowned star baker as he wowed the judges with his efforts.

What is next week’s theme on Great British Bake Off?
Next week the amateur bakers will take on baking challenges such as traditional Christmas biscuits, a technical with multiple layers and a yeasted showstopper.
These bakes will feature on next week’s episode for German week.
Not only will the bakers need to impress the judges again, they also have stiff competition in German baker, Jürgen.
Great British Bake Off will continue to air on Channel 4 on Tuesdays at 8pm.
