The Royal Family have arrived at Balmoral amid concerns for the Queen's health.
Buckingham Palace said on Thursday, “Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”
The concerning news has sparked fears for the Queen's health with many asking what happens next, if the worst happens.
Plans have been in place for decades outlining how the public are notified and what happens next, known as Operation London Bridge.
Plans will also be in place across sport according to reported plans created back in the 1980's.
Although the finer details are not public knowledge there is an understanding that there will be a ten-day period of mourning for the Queen's passing.
During the time of mourning, sports events are likely to be postponed across the UK.
Will sporting events take place when the Queen dies?
With sporting events likely to be suspended that means Premier League and EFL action could be affected.
However, according to the Daily Star, the league have been told that they will be advised by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) on the best action to take.
With the DCMS spokesperson shared that there is no "strict sporting guidance" and that the decision will be up to the specific sport.
However, the department did say that any events set to place on the day of the Queen's funeral would be cancelled.
That means that all major sporting events including rugby, football, cricket and the Queen's favourite, horse riding would be cancelled.
