During Friday’s (May 26) Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, crowds were surprised by a special musical performance.
Band of the Welsh Guards and 1st Battalion Welsh Guards Corps of Drums paid tribute to the late “Queen of rock ‘n’ roll” Tina Turner.
Turner died at the age of 83 at her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland after a long illness, her publicist confirmed to the PA news agency on Wednesday (May 24).
“With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model,” a statement from Mr Doherty read.
“With her music and her inexhaustible vitality, Tina Turner thrilled millions of fans and inspired many artists of subsequent generations.”

What is Changing of the Guard?
Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace is a ceremony where the King's Guard hands over responsibility for protecting Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace to the new Guard, reports Changing Guard.
People can see the change-over daily in June and July from 11am and on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from August to May.
However, it’s important to note that schedules can change at short notice but you can find out the latest updates online.
Earlier in the week, the official Tina Turner Instagram account posted a tribute to the River Deep – Mountain High star.
It said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner.
“With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.
“Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”
