Jamie Oliver is heading to the Mediterranean for his new cooking and travel show.

The TV chef will be returning to our screens this Autumn with a four-part series which will air on Channel 4.

The news comes after 'The Naked Chef's' exclusive deal ended with the broadcaster last year.

The upcoming show will see Jamie Oliver travel across Greece, Tunisia, Spain and France as he explores a range of flavours and styles to inspire new recipes.

Jamie Oliver returns to Channel 4 this Autumn with new cooking show

Commissioning editor for Channel 4, Tim Hancock, said: “Jamie has been going from strength to strength in his series for us, and this is a really beautiful travelogue showcasing techniques and recipes even the most avid foodie might have missed, and some ingenious recipes from Jamie."

Bosses were reportedly keen to line up the celebrity chef for another big show following the end of the contract.

An inside source told The Sun newspaper's TVBiz column: "Jamie held an exclusive contract with Channel 4 for years. But at the back end of last year he began to look at other options once his golden handcuffs deal lapsed.

"He made One-Pan Wonders and Seasons on a non-exclusive basis for Channel 4, but Netflix showed interest in a project around his healthy-eating campaigns.

“Channel 4 are all too aware how much of a draw Jamie still is for viewers, and wanted to reward his loyalty with a glossy new show.”

The new programme will feature four episodes airing in the Autumn with a Christmas special expected to follow.

The recipes showcased in the series are said to feature a companion cookbook which will include dishes like Tunisian-inspired crispy prawn parcels with harissa.

Other treats expected to feature are Greek smoky aubergine flatbread, pork chop with chargrilled peppers from Spain, and courgette and goat's cheese and olive tapenade tart from France.
