Brits often debate over food-related trends including if a Jaffa Cake is a cake or a biscuit and the correct way to say scone plus if you should spread the jam or cream on one first.
Another debate that gets us Brits talking is whether certain foods should be stored in the fridge or cupboard.
Food saving app Too Good To Go has revealed the nation’s biggest mishaps when it comes to keeping food fresh and it has shared some solutions for getting the most out of our food.
Following the research commissioned by Too Good To Go, Jamie Crummie, co-founder of the food-saving app, has shared some tips on how to store bread.
How to store bread – fridge or cupboard?
Bread is an essential item in UK households whether it’s used to make sandwiches for lunch or toast for breakfast.
While our natural instinct might be to store it in a cupboard or inside a bread bin on a work surface, the best way to store sliced bread is actually in the fridge.
Jamie Crummie advises that sliced bread should be stored in the fridge to make it “last much longer”.
Jamie said: “If you save sliced bread, remember to store it in the fridge when you get home. This way it will last much longer, extending its expiration date. Always remember to use your senses before consuming it – look, smell, taste!”
"Let's put an end to 'Store Wars' and bring harmony to our kitchens”, said Jamie.
Jamie added: “Too Good To Go is here to empower everyone with food storage knowledge for fresher meals, less waste, and more savings.
“I'm excited to share my top tips for storing food correctly, helping you make the most of your favourite ingredients while also doing our part for the planet and our pockets by preventing food waste."
