Part one of the final series of The Crown has dropped on Netflix as it follows the royals from the late 1990s.

There are four episodes for fans to enjoy focusing on Princess Diana’s friendship with Dodi Al-Faye, her tragic death and the start of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s relationship.

Netflix said: “Season 5 of the series ended on what Elizabeth Debicki described as ‘a hopeful beat’ for her character, Diana, but the royals’ relevancy was left hanging in the balance.

“Season 6 picks up with Diana and Prince Charles (Dominic West) spending their first summer apart as a divorced couple, each enjoying very different holidays with their sons Prince William (Rufus Kampa) and Prince Harry (Fflyn Edwards)."

Executive producer of The Crown, Suzanne Mackie explained to Netflix: “We’re very much in the beginning of the Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed story.

“From the second she steps onto that boat and [you begin to see] some of those iconic images of her on the yacht, it does take you immediately to the whirlwind that was the press speculation around that romance."

But how did King Charles and Diana’s oldest son first meet Kate Middleton? The 41-year-old recently became the Princess of Wales after the late Queen Elizabeth II died.

How did Prince William and Kate Middleton meet?

Many fans of Prince William and Kate will know the couple met while both studying at St. Andrews University in Scotland back in 2001.

Prince William started a degree in art history before switching to geography in his second year.

Meanwhile, Kate studied psychology briefly before deciding to focus on art history.

However, some rumours have suggested that Prince William was “won over” after seeing Kate model for a student fashion show for charity.

He reportedly paid £200 for a front-row seat, according to Elle.

Prince William proposed to Kate on October 20, 2010 whilst on a trip to Kenya with Diana's sapphire engagement ring, but the exciting news was only revealed to the public on November 16.

On April 29, 2011, the former Duke and Duchess of Cambridge got married in a “fairytale” ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

Prince William and Kate now have three children together; Prince George, born July 22, 2013, Princess Charlotte born May 2, 2015 and most recently Prince Louis, born April 23, 2018.

When is part 2 of The Crown series 6 on Netflix?

The second part of The Crown’s last series will be streaming on Netflix from December 14.

The final chapter will consist of six episodes.
