Former prime minister Boris Johnson has released a book titled Unleashed and it’s available to buy in shops but some protesters are doing what they can to curb sales.

A user on X, formerly Twitter, has shared a picture showing multiple copies of Boris Johnson’s book which have been covered over with other books at a Waterstones store.

They explained that the display was seen on a table at Cheltenham Literature Festival and that staff at Waterstones were continuously “cleaning it up” but it didn't stop visitors from doing it.

The post on X reads: “This is the table display of Boris Johnson’s memoir at the Cheltenham Literature Festival tonight. Waterstones staff keep cleaning it up. But then festival goers keep doing it again! @cheltfestivals”.

The books covering Boris Johnson’s face which is on the cover of his new book were carefully selected by protesters.

The Idiot by Elif Batuman, A House Party in Tuscany by Amber Guinness, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You by Miranda Hart, Sad Little Men by Richard Beard, A Game of Lies by Clare Mackintosh and Italian Coastal by Amber Guinness were all used to cover Johnson’s book as the protesters shared their thoughts relating to the handling of the coronavirus pandemic and Johnson’s time as prime minister.

The post on X resulted in a few replies with one user saying: “I’ve seen quite a few defaced and pushed on the floor in various bookshops.”

Another shared a gif of a cartoon chef doing the ‘chef’s kiss’ gesture and commented: “Chef’s kiss for the House Party in Tuscany!”
