BOSS Tom Killick hailed the “embarrassment of riches” at his disposal as Poole Town prepare for a return to action at Bridgwater Town tomorrow (3pm).
With star striker Warren Byerley set to sign a contract at Tatnam this weekend, the Dolphins boss was in bullish mood ahead of the trip to Somerset and remains confident that a lack of action in recent weeks will not prove a problem at Fairfax Park.
Poole have been left kicking their heels after the postponement of matches against Evesham United and Clevedon Town, but the Robins’ run of cancellations has been worse, having not played since January 8.
And with a fully fit squad to choose from, including returning trio Nick Hutchings, Marvin Brooks and Will Spetch, Killick is hoping to keep the pressure on Division One South & West leaders Hungerford Town.
The Dolphins manager told the Daily Echo: “At this stage of the season it is unusual to have everyone available but that is the positive element of the bad weather.
“Sometimes, a lack of match practice can be a leveller in games like this, but Bridgwater have been in the same situation as us, so, hopefully, it won’t have a huge impact.
“There are always difficulties when you have bad weather for so long. It’s not just the backlog of fixtures – non-league clubs have the extra headache of finding somewhere to train when the weather is poor.
“We are very lucky to have access to the excellent facilities at Canford Magna but getting a session in on a Saturday morning can be difficult if your game is off.
“But having everyone ready to play is a big advantage, especially with us having two forwards who are proven at a higher level.
“Warren has been a revelation since coming in and, along with Michael Charles, we have players that are of the calibre required.
“It was difficult over the summer but we’ve got that cutting edge with the benefit of Steve Brown, who is also a very good player, as an option.
“We have always been strong defensively but going forward we have an embarrassment of riches at the club now which stands us in good stead.”
