A HOST of volunteers braved the cold snap to help Wimborne clear snow from the Cuthbury pitch ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Paulton Rovers (3pm).

The Southern League Division One South & West side have been without a game since January 15 after the big freeze wiped out the non-league schedule.

And after the Cuthbury surface was covered with several inches of snow last week, the club placed all hands to the pump to clear the white stuff ahead of the thaw.

Supporters and club officials, as well as boss Steve Cuss and his coaches from the Cherries community set-up, all picked up shovels to stop the pitch becoming waterlogged.

Cuss said: “It was fantastic to see the efforts made by our groundsman Brian Sibley and the volunteers to ensure the game goes ahead.

“There have been a lot of postponements lately and it has even been difficult training in the wintry conditions. So it is very important we get back in action tomorrow.”
