WIMBORNE Town manager Steve Cuss says he would pick Magpies goalkeeper Jason Harvell ahead of any other stopper in the division.

Cuss was speaking after the former Cherries trainee had played a starring role in the 0-0 draw against Clevedon Town at Cuthbury on Saturday.

Harvell produced a fine reaction save from Rory Prendergast before twice denying Russell Church before the interval.

Cherries loanee Ryan Case came close to netting for Wimborne when he forced a brilliant one-handed save from Clevedon's Lee Matthews.

But the hosts required Harvell to earn them a point in the closing stages as the ex-Poole and Poppies number one parried a Church effort before keeping out Michael Stephenson.

Cuss told the Daily Echo: “We were disappointed not to score but we were indebted to Jason for four or five good saves.

“His current form is very good. He kept us in the game with outstanding saves and is back to his very best.”

Asked how he rated Harvell against the other keepers in Southern League Division One South & West, boss Cuss added: “I wouldn't swap Jason for any other keeper. We rate him very highly.

“He is playing at the top of his form at the moment and, as a club, we think a lot of him.”
