PLAYER-coach Paul Gazzard has urged relegation-threatened Bashley to be “ready to go to war” as they aim to secure their Premier Division status.

Bash will be bidding to halt a five-match winless run in the Southern League top flight when they visit fellow strugglers Bedworth tomorrow (3pm).

The New Forest outfit, who host Weymouth on Easter Monday (3pm), sit five points above the drop zone.

Long-serving defender Gazzard said: “We all had a good chat in the dressing room after the Hemel match on Tuesday. Frank (Gray, manager) sat us down and was very positive and upbeat.

“We created five good chances and that was better than the past three or four away matches and that stands us in good stead for an important one against Bedworth.

“The lads have to be ready to go to war. We are still in a battle but a positive result would give us a huge advantage going into the Weymouth match.”

Bash will be without Tim Stephenson (hamstring) for both matches but Mark Gamble (hip) is expected to play through the pain barrier.

Meanwhile, Bash have confirmed that Gazzard's testimonial will no longer be against AFC Bournemouth, with Cherries set to field a team against the club during pre-season instead.

However, there will still be a match for Gazzard at the Recreation Ground on Wednesday. His former Lymington & New Milton team-mates will reunite to face Bashley's 2006-07 title-winning side.
