MANAGER Tom Killick believes Poole Town’s latest step towards glory could have a damaging effect on the morale of their rivals.

Michael Charles hit a last-gasp leveller as Dolphins rescued a 1-1 draw at Sholing to extend their commanding lead over Swindon Supermarine in the Southern League Division One South and West title race.

The striker netted in stoppage time to cancel out Lee Wort’s 82nd-minute opener.

Although Hungerford are in second place, Poole see Swindon as their main competitors for the title due to games in hand and the fact they still have to face them twice during the run-in.

But a 3-1 defeat at Paulton yesterday left Swindon a mighty 14 points behind leaders Poole.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “It was certainly a positive day. It was quite pivotal.

“For us to better their result probably demoralises them a bit.”
