MAGNANIMOUS Kyle Howarth admits he is disappointed by his Pirates omission but insists: “I would love to come back.”

The British racer said he had enjoyed his time in the skull and crossbones despite being controversially dropped when Pirates re-declared their new-look Elite League line-up last week.

Howarth, Dawid Stachyra and injured Darcy Ward all made way as Poole drafted in Andzejs Lebedevs, Tomas H Jonasson and Przemyslaw Pawlicki.

And although promoter Matt Ford had a “change of heart” over the signing of Lebedevs, there was no reprieve for Howarth as Stachyra was given a second chance.

Howarth, 19, is popular with the Pirates faithful and some supporters criticised the decision to leave out the Team Great Britain under-21s captain.

But despite his frustration at missing out, Poole asset Howarth insists there are no hard feelings and says he is still keen to return to his parent club in the future, with Ford revealing that could even happen later this season.

Howarth told the Daily Echo: “I found out just after the King’s Lynn meeting. It is what it is and that is what the sport is sometimes, so you have to take it like that.

“I was disappointed – you are never going to be happy – but it is a fresh start for me now. I need to get myself sorted.

“At the end of the day, Matt makes his decisions, he is the boss and he makes that place run, so there is not a lot I can really say.”

Howarth added: “I have always enjoyed it at the club. Definitely, I would love to come back. Whatever has happened has happened and hopefully, one day, I will be back there.”

Ford has made no secret of his reluctance to drop Howarth, who has scored 44 paid 50 in 10 Pirates meetings this term.

“I definitely didn’t want to do it,” said Ford. “Like everybody, I want the British lads to have jobs.

“We are in a results industry and, unfortunately, that is what we are judged on, not necessarily being popular.”

Discussing the possibility of Howarth returning to Poole, Ford added: “It could even happen in the next month or two – it is just purely down to figures. I just felt that using all of Darcy’s points meant that we could improve the reserve berth as well.

“At this point in time, it has got to be the best thing for the club to try to get us back in the mix. Then, once we are there, we will look at things again in the near future.”

Meanwhile, Ford said he expected both Jonasson and Pawlicki to be fit to make their Poole debuts against King’s Lynn on Monday.

Pirates' clash with Lakeside, scheduled to take place tonight, was controversially postponed by Poole amid claims from Ford that the sport's bosses had told the Dorset club they would have to revert to their original 2013 line-up against the Hammers as Pawlicki was out injured.
