LYMINGTON captain Ali Jaffer has called for stronger batting performances from his team as they aim to maintain their bright start to the season.
Jaffer takes his side to Totton & Eling tomorrow, hoping to bounce back from a narrow defeat at the hands of Ventnor last time out.
The Lymington skipper told the Daily Echo: “We didn’t bat well enough on a decent pitch last week and our bowlers did tremendously well to get us back into the game.
“Including me, we all need to step up and put in performances on a regular basis because the bowlers are pulling their weight.
“We know that taking wickets is our strength and we have done well to restrict sides to around 175 so far, but we need to score well to back that up.”
Lymington have made one change, with Dave Kidner replacing Rob O’Brien.
Lymington: Treagus, Henry, Grierson, Jaffer, Cowley, Kidner, Metcalfe, Beetham, Ellis, Ford, Freeman.
- New Milton skipper Ryan Beck feels it will take a “big effort” to topple reigning champions Sarisbury Athletic on their own patch in Division One.
Both teams are unbeaten but Beck is bullish, with returning duo Lee Beck and Toby Edwards set to bolster his line-up.
He said: “A lot of people would put us up there with them and to compete with the best, you have to beat the best.”
New Milton: N Park, House, J Park, R Beck, Elliott, Loader, T Prodomo, L Beck, Gargaro, Watts, Edwards.
- In the top-flight, Bournemouth visit Hampshire Academy.
