CHERRIES striker Matt Tubbs today sparked fresh talk about his future by reportedly admitting he was unsure where he would be playing next season.
A number of clubs are rumoured to be keeping tabs on Tubbs and the transfer speculation intensified following the 28-year-old's comments.
Cherries' record signing saw his first-team opportunities limited during the Dorset outfit's promotion-winning season due to the form of Brett Pitman and Lewis Grabban.
Verwood-raised Tubbs, who scored six goals while being restricted to just six starts in his 31 League One appearances last term, has been heavily linked with a move so far this summer.
Rotherham boss Steve Evans has previously tried to reunite with the man he worked with at Crawley, while Oxford United are believed to be monitoring Tubbs, and a return to Crawley has also been rumoured.
Tubbs told the Crawley News: “Your guess is as good as mine where I'll be next season. It isn't really up to me, it's up to Bournemouth and my agent.”
Long-term admirer Evans is looking to boost the Millers' striking resources and he is said to be keen on sealing a deal for Tubbs, while the forward's Crawley record makes him hugely popular at Broadfield Stadium.
Tubbs added: “I think Steve has shown some interest. I don't know who has shown interest or not because sometimes my agent doesn't tell me if it isn't concrete.
“I'm 28, nearly 29, and so if I was going to move somewhere that far away, I would have to talk to my family. Crawley is obviously a lot closer, but I don't know what is going to happen at the moment.”
When asked about speculation surrounding Tubbs, Cherries assistant manager Jason Tindall told the Daily Echo: “I'm not surprised clubs have been linked with him because his goalscoring record is exceptional and clubs are always looking for strikers who score goals consistently, like he has done throughout his career.
“From our point of view, Tubbsy made a really important contribution to our success last season.
“For any player that spends the majority of the season on the bench or not playing on a consistent basis week to week, it can be frustrating and difficult.
“But Tubbsy showed an absolutely terrific attitude to his training, his work and to the encouragement that he gave to other players.
“We value him really highly and he was a little bit unfortunate last season due to the good form of Brett and Grabbs. He showed a fantastic attitude, he kept himself fit and when he was called upon, he never let the team down.”
Tubbs has two years remaining on his Cherries contract and Dean Court chairman Eddie Mitchell said on Monday the club had received no bids.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Shwan Jalal is rumoured to be attracting interest, with Bristol City linked with the stopper.
