BASHLEY captain Richard Morris will continue to go on the offensive in the all-day cricket – even if his attacking policy has yet to reap its rewards.
Bash host Alton tomorrow on the back of three draws in five timed matches, and while the BCG skipper has been left frustrated by results at times, he has been pleased with recent performances.
And despite struggling to bowl opponents out in conditions favouring batsmen in recent weeks, Morris insists he will always look to take to the crease first and go for the throat.
Morris told the Daily Echo: “We want to look to take 25 points from matches by scoring well and bowling teams out if we can.
“It is a bold decision to take, and it possibly hasn’t paid dividends yet, but there are clubs who go into the all-day cricket with a negative mind and take the easy view of going for 20 points.
“That is not something I want to instill in my players. We have the top bowler in the league and I would always fully back our bowling attack by going for it.
“We want to move up the league and being brave and backing your players is the best way to do that. In the past we haven’t been so strong, but our batters are starting to get into their stride and the wickets are flattening out.
“That has made it difficult to take to the wickets to win matches but we will persevere because we are capable of playing good, consistent cricket..”
Morris makes one enforced change this weekend with Josh Digby opening the batting in place of dual-registered Luke Webb, who will represent Hampshire Academy at Lymington.
Glyn Treagus returns for Lymo but Cameron Grierson misses out with Simon Beetham again standing in as skipper for Ali Jaffer.
Elsewhere, Bournemouth make two changes ahead of their home clash with Havant. Alex Allum and Pete Smith come in for the unavailable Will Old and Anschuman Singh.
Bashley: Digby, Thurgood, Baker, Higgins, Morris, Watkins, Ridley, Friedman, Neal, Grierson, Nash.
Lymington: Henry, Treagus, O'Brien, Cowley, Edwards, Beetham, Ellis, Metcalfe, Chakrabarti, McCann, Freeman.
