SKIPPER Ryan Beck insists New Milton will be out to prove a point when they travel to Hook & Newnham Basics tomorrow.
Milton managed 253 for one against their Hampshire rivals back in May, but the heavens opened to force the abandonment of the Division One clash with the visitors on 14 without loss.
However, despite Beck’s boys setting a strong target, Hook skipper Ross Hunter claimed at the time that his side would have comfortably chased the Fernhill outfit down.
Hunter said: “We felt they were 20 or 30 runs short of a good total and when we started to bat it was a good deck. I would have backed us to get the runs.”
And with the rivals both vying for a top-three finish, Beck says Hunter’s confidence will provide all the incentive his team needs this weekend.
Beck told the Daily Echo: “It was a heated affair and there was a little bit of niggle. They were clearly confident they would easily chase down our total and posted their opinion in the newspaper. Let’s just say we’re up for this one because they were quite vocal about it. This will be a big game with both sides going for third place and our lads will relish that.”
Beck’s team, who have won back-to-back home league matches, will be unchanged from their success against Andover last Saturday.
New Milton: N Park, R Beck, J Park, L Beck, Elliott, J Prodomo, Loader, T Prodomo, Gargaro, Watts, Staniford.
