ZEESHAN Haider and Richard Witherington combined with devastating effect to help Corfe Mullen heap more misery on Division One whipping boys Ferndown Wayfarers.
The pair worked in tandem to condemn the visitors to a sixth successive defeat, with Corfe Mullen’s 55-run win seeing them complete the double over Ferndown Wayfarers.
Chasing Corfe Mullen’s 195, Ferndown Wayfarers were skittled for 140 in reply after Haider (5-18) and Witherington (4-24) had shown no mercy to the cellar-dwellers.
Nick Jordan (37) and Martin Wood (27) had given the hosts a platform, their third-wicket stand of 63 helping them recover from 47 for two to 110 for three.
Matt Bray (25) added valuable runs down the order, while the concession of 43 extras did little to aid Ferndown Wayfarers’ task of ending their winless run (Daryl Baines 2-34).
Although Connor Coppard (58) put up a dogged fight, he became the fifth of Haider’s victims when he was the last man out with Ferndown Wayfarers falling well short of their target.
Elsewhere, Winton (274-5) kept alive their chances of featuring in the title race when they collected maximum points from a 128-run win over Swanage (146).
However, Dewlish (238-7) failed to close the gap on leaders Fovant when they suffered a narrow one-run defeat at Shillingstone (239-5), In the top-flight’s other match, St Georges (144-4) comfortably saw off the challenge of Cranborne (141) by six wickets.
