PHILIP Sargeant and Oliver Goodworth were among the prize winners at the Dorset squash and racketball junior presentations held at the West Hants Club.
West Hants coach Andy Corben presented 15-year-old Sargeant with the club player-of-the-year award.
The new trophy is given to the player who has most impressed their club coach.
Sargeant (West Hants) has participated in nearly all of the club’s coaching weekends and has helped out with the younger players.
Bournemouth Squash Club’s Goodworth, 15, won the Biles Trophy awarded by the county’s junior manager Janet Biles.
“This player is my choice for the overall player of this year in Grand Prix,” explained Biles. “Oliver has made my job easier by always being available to help with the younger players, to mark, being a good sport, having good conduct on court and always helpful to other players.”
West Hants player Lara Small, 18, won the Lanz Trophy which is awarded by the county’s junior section.
“Lara has been part of the Dorset squash teams from the age of 11, has always had a good attitude on court and has been a great ambassador for our younger players,” said Biles.
Small has a level one coaching qualification and has progressed into the ladies senior team.
The presentation was held after the sixth and final Grand Prix event at West Hants.
Eighty-five junior players, aged seven to 18-years-old, had registered throughout the year from all the clubs in Dorset, with 13 attending all six events held at different clubs around the county.
