EUNAN O’Kane is hoping to prove his versatility and insists he is happy to adapt to different tasks to maximise his selection chances in the Championship.
The ex-Torquay star has played in his usual central midfield position as well as in an advanced role behind the frontline during Cherries’ pre-season schedule.
He told the Daily Echo: “I feel comfortable in either position but it is just about being ready to be played and used wherever the manager needs me and sees fit to play me.
"The more strings you have to your bow, the more chance you have of being on the pitch. I will play in goal if it means being in the starting XI – I am just happy to be on the pitch.”
O’Kane endured a frustrating warm-up campaign after being sidelined by a thigh injury during Cherries’ trip to Zurich.
But after featuring against both Dorchester and Bristol City, O’Kane is aiming to be in the frame to face Charlton Athletic at Dean Court tomorrow (3pm).
He added: “When you start to think how close the season is, it is a little bit worrying when you have only played 45 minutes and the season is only two weeks away. But the manager saw that I needed minutes and, thankfully, he gave them to me.
“Hopefully, I will be able to be in his mind to at least have a chance on Saturday. I am as ready as I can be after being out injured. I don’t think I could have coped with any more minutes and we would have run the risk of me, maybe, re-injuring myself.”
