PIRATES’ new recruit Greg Hancock will tonight be hoping to maintain his push for a top-three finish in the World Championships in the Italian Grand Prix.
The American talisman, 43, was relieved to receive his passport from the UK Border Agency on Thursday in time to travel to Terenzano for the latest leg of the Grand Prix series.
Two-times world champion Hancock was prevented from travelling to Dorset on Wednesday to make his Wimborne Road debut against Coventry Bees and was left in limbo over his prospects of making this weekend’s showdown.
But following the safe arrival of his paperwork in Stockholm, Poole’s high-profile recruit will be determined to chase down a podium place, despite being 16 points behind crocked star Chris Holder, who currently lies third in the standings.
And with the Olimpia Stadium proving a happy hunting ground for Hancock in recent years, the man who has never missed a Grand Prix meeting will be buoyant about his chances.
Meanwhile, Pirates boss Matt Ford confirmed Hancock would feature in Poole’s crunch clash with Eastbourne on Monday.
