FINE form from Matt Metcalfe with the ball and Scott Henry with the bat saw resurgent Lymington pull off a shock victory at South Wilts.
Metcalfe (4-19) reduced the table-toppers to just 40 for five before James Hayward (104) struck an unbeaten century to help the hosts reach 199 for seven.
And although Lymo suffered a slow start to their hunt for victory when opener Glyn Treagus and captain Ali Jaffer left the crease early, a century partnership between the undefeated Henry (86) and Darren Cowley (46) got the visitors back on track.
Ryan Burl (3-29) claimed the quickfire wickets of Cameron Grierson, Felix Ambrose and Metcalfe, but Simon Beetham (24*) calmed things down to hand his side the Premier Division’s prize scalp.
Meanwhile, there were dramatically differing fortunes for New Forest neighbours Bashley who lost by eight wickets to struggling St Cross Symondians.
Bash were dismissed for 157 with skipper Richard Morris (66*) receiving little support from his team-mates as newly-appointed St Cross captain Richard Logan (3-29) and Will Walsh (3-24) led the charge.
And the visitors cruised to victory when Charlie Esson struck a fine 76, with excellent support from George Adair (33) and Wilf Marriott (43*) making light work of the hosts’ modest total to claim victory on 163 for two.
