THE Baczala brothers made a mockery of Broadstone’s impressive recent form as their brilliant bowling helped secure a delicious league double for Swanage at the Delph.
Third-placed Broadstone, who had won six out of seven league matches since losing by 76 runs at Swanage in June, were dismissed for 191 as super siblings Ben (4-55) and Elliot Baczala (2-16) hit their stride.
Defiant opener Pete Russell (58) did all he could to keep the score board ticking over, but each of his partners suffered a similar fate as Matt Jones, caught off the bowling of Ben Baczala, and James Brown both went for ducks.
Dan Cook and skipper Greg Parsons quickly followed either side of a brief flurry from Mike Holm, who hit 35 off 23 balls for the home side.
However, by the time Ben was done, the hosts were on 148 for six and their hopes were soon dashed when Jem Warner (2-29) bowled Russell without any further addition to the score.
Warner then accounted for Christian Metcalfe (13) before Elliot tidied up the tail to leave Swanage in a strong position to chase victory.
Parsons (2-30) took early wickets to leave the visitors rattling on 11 for two, but Mike Salmon’s 91, which included 15 boundaries, saw the Swans settle down with his century partnership alongside Ricky King (34*) proving decisive.
Broadstone wicketkeeper Cook eventually made Salmon his fourth catch off the bowling of Holm (2-29), but it was too little too late for the home side as Swanage passed their target with six-and-a-half overs to spare, posting 192 for five.
Elsewhere, Wimborne & Colehill’s decent total of 263 for seven was not enough for victory over Stalbridge, who posted 266 for nine at the Leaze.
Andy Hayward’s reigning champions are fifth in the Premier League having suffered eight defeats this season.
