SKIPPER Martin Miller allowed himself a little gallows humour in the build up to Bournemouth’s must-win showdown at relegation rivals St Cross tomorrow (1pm).
The Lions, who have languished at the bottom of the Southern Premier Division all season, will look to put together back-to-back wins for the first time in 2013.
Bournemouth kept their survival hopes alive with a win over Totton & Eling last weekend, but St Cross’s surprise victory at high-flying Bashley left Miller’s men needing another success at the Royal Green Jackets Ground.
“We will all be listening to the Great Escape on the way to the match,” quipped Miller.
“But, clearly, it is a game we have to win. We beat them earlier in the season and we are near full strength this weekend.
“The lads are playing good cricket at the moment and proved that by beating a good Totton team. Now we have to take that into this game and just make sure we do the basics better than the opposition.”
Miller makes one change to his side with Pete Smith replacing Gurpreet Singh.
Lymington captain Ali Jaffer insisted his men were focused on performances rather than revenge ahead of their derby date with Bashley at Southampton Road (1pm).
Bash dished out a 208-run trouncing at the BCG earlier in the season but Lymo’s skipper played down the prospect of retribution.
Jaffer said: “After such a poor run during June and July, our motivation is to keep playing well.”
In Division One, Dan Loader returns to the New Milton line-up for their trip to Hambledon (1pm).
