BASHLEY cricketer Ryan Higgins was a stand-out performer for England Under-19s during their recent tri-series campaign.
The exciting prospect top scored with a 79-ball 70 but could not save England from a 192-run defeat at the hands of Pakistan in the final at Trent Bridge.
Emerging talent Higgins, who is on the staff at Middlesex, struck a six and eight fours in the knock.
That effort came after the Bash batsman had hit 112 not out in England’s nine-wicket victory over Bangladesh to reach the final, as well as 65 from 46 deliveries against Pakistan earlier in the competition.
Higgins was joined in the England team by other local prospects Tom Barber and Lewis McManus. Left-arm paceman Barber, who played for Parley, and McManus, who came through the Dorset ranks, are both at the Hampshire Academy.
Higgins, Barber and McManus are all aiming to secure a place in the England squad for the Under-19 Cricket World Cup next year.
