BOSS Eddie Howe says Cherries will need to be on their guard when they come up against Huddersfield strike pair James Vaughan and Martin Paterson.

Vaughan has netted four times this season following his summer move from Norwich, while Paterson played under Howe and Jason Tindall at Burnley.

Howe said: “They are two players we like. James Vaughan has had a really good start to the season and was a really good signing.

“Both Jason and myself really like Martin Paterson. He is an infectious character and did really well for us at Burnley when he was fit. They are two players we will have to watch.”

Howe, who saw a 6-1 defeat at Watford sandwiched between home wins over Charlton and Wigan, added: “All away games in this league are incredibly difficult.

“Huddersfield improved their squad over the summer and made some good signings.

“They are well managed by Mark Robins who did a really good job in keeping them up last season.

“They achieved what we are looking to achieve. They consolidated in the league and are now improving themselves. I think they will be a good side this season.”

Meanwhile, Howe's opposite number Mark Robins is desperate to see Huddersfield chalk up back-to-back wins.

Robins presided over a 1-0 victory at Millwall six days ago after the Terriers had held QPR to a 1-1 home draw following their opening-day defeat at Nottingham Forest.

Huddersfield host Charlton in the second round of the League Cup on Tuesday following their 2-1 win over Bradford before heading to Barnsley a week tomorrow.

Robins said: “It is going to be a big spell for both ourselves and the supporters, who have three games which are all easy to get to. But my thoughts are always about the next game and we know Bournemouth are a good side who will give us a test.

“As a club, they have momentum and, in Eddie Howe, they have a very bright manager who knows what this division is about after his time at Burnley.

“We were all pleased with the win at Millwall but we need to build on that and back-to-back victories are very important.

“The players have worked their socks off this week. Their attitude and the way they have applied themselves is very pleasing and that is vital.

“We are always looking to push things on and get those margins of improvement. Hard work really does pay dividends.”
