HUDDERSFIELD boss Mark Robins is convinced Cherries will learn a harsh lesson after being given “a little kick up the backside” on the road this season.

Robins plotted a second successive away defeat for Eddie Howe’s men as the Terriers recorded a 5-1 victory at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

James Vaughan’s hat-trick spearheaded the win as Cherries suffered another heavy beating on their travels following the 6-1 reverse at Watford.

Robins managed Coventry to a 1-0 win over Cherries last season, a defeat which saw the Dorset club drop into the League One relegation zone.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Echo, Robins said: “I know people will think it is easy to say after winning 5-1, but we beat a really good side. They have proved that already this season by beating Wigan and Charlton. I know they are bright and I know Eddie is bright.

“They will certainly win more than they will lose. They have had a little kick up the backside away from home but I know how difficult this league is.

“I also know how well Eddie has done since he went back and that should not be underestimated. We put on a really good performance to beat a really good team.”

Cherries again paid a heavy price for some ponderous defending as Vaughan took his tally for the season to seven, the £1million summer signing from Norwich completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot. His treble was sandwiched between goals from Adam Hammill and Adam Clayton with Marc Pugh grabbing Cherries’ consolation.

Robins added: “It is a tough league and people will see that week in, week out. If you make a mistake or switch off for a second, you will be punished.

“That is something they will learn but they have got some really good players. Although they will be hurting after this, they have got to take heart from the fact they can cause teams real problems.

“The overall standard of play from both teams was excellent. They caused us plenty of problems and found space and passes well. They were a threat down the wing and, on another day, would have hurt us more.”
