BASHLEY’S early-season woes continued as cash-strapped AFC Totton completed a rousing comeback to beat their New Forest neighbours 3-1 today.

Tim Sills nodded home Jack Satterley’s corner after just 74 seconds as Bash took an early lead, but two goals in three minutes handed the struggling Stags the initiative.

Zac Mouland equalised when he beat Bash keeper Nic Jones to Chris Ferrett’s inswinging corner before Luke Roberts’s 25-yard thunderbolt turned the game on its head.

Bash dominated the second half and came close to a leveller when substitute Tom Jeffes hit the crossbar, but Totton immediately broke and took full advantage of their reprieve as Mouland pounced on a poor clearance from Jones to settle the contest.

Bashley’s joint-boss Stewart Kearn said: “Derbies often come down to passion and desire and Totton probably showed more character and fight than we did.”

Bash: Jones, Stephenson, Boultwood (Jeffes, 65), I Richardson, Middleton, S Richardson, Casey, Strickland (Porter, 85), Sills, Odam, Satterley (Morris h-t). Brookes, Thomas.
