MARK Gamble's equaliser handed Wimborne a share of the spoils against 10-man Bridgwater, but boss Steve Cuss insisted his side should have won the match.
The Magpies became the first team to take points off the Somerset outfit this season when Gamble latched on to substitute Jamie Davidson's through ball to secure a 1-1 draw with 10 minutes to play. Dean Griffiths had given Bridgwater a first-half lead with a 15-yard finish following Bradley Middleton's pass.
The tide turned in Wimborne's favour when Aaron Wilson was dismissed for foul and abusive language on the hour, but Cuss's charges couldn't quite convert their numerical supremacy into a match-winning display.
The Cuthbury manager told the Daily Echo: “We had mixed feelings about the result. It was a good point from a tough fixture but we were a little frustrated that we couldn't take full advantage of playing against 10 men for half an hour.
“The team was not at its fluent best but the lads stuck to the task and grabbed a point in the end.”
On the red card, Cuss added: “To the letter of the law, the referee was correct, but the player involved might have felt a little hard done-by.”
Magpies: Harvell, Arnold, Whitley, Costello (Davidson, 57), Brian, Blake, Griffin, Hubbard, Stokoe, Gamble, Webb (Kemble, 74). Unused subs: Maybury, Roast, Ackerman.
- In the Wessex Premier, Christchurch and Verwood Town suffered narrow defeats on the road.
Priory were beaten 2-1 at Fawley while the Potters suffered a 1-0 reverse at Folland Sports.
