Feb 2008 News of his initial interest in Cherries is revealed by the Daily Echo when we report he is thought to be heading a five-strong consortium to take over the club.
Apr 2008 His interest is rekindled when he meets a representative of administrators Begbies Traynor.
Feb 2009 Refuses to be intimidated after receiving the first of two death threats in the post during his time as chairman of Dorchester.
June 2009 The Echo reveals Mitchell is to become chairman at Dean Court after the Murry Group's takeover is ratified by the Football League.
July 2009 Insists the club must get its financial house in order and says: “If we can't pay for it, we won't buy it.”
July 2009 Gives boss Eddie Howe and assistant Jason Tindall three-year contracts.
Aug 2009 Confirms club's transfer embargo is to remain in place.
Nov 2009 Reveals club's long-standing tax slate is wiped clean after an HM Revenue & Customs winding-up petition is dismissed.
Feb 2010 Sounds out a message to supporters, saying “I'm not in this for profit”. Also reveals that the tax man is petitioning for an outstanding debt of £314,000.
Mar 2010 Says the club has sent around £350,000 to HM Revenue & Customs in order to satisfy outstanding tax liabilities.
May 2010 Celebrates a momentous first season at the helm as Cherries win promotion to League One.
July 2010 Issues a defiant message to would-be buyers and tells them he will not sell the club following an approach from the Convers Group, which goes on to purchase Portsmouth.
Sep 2010 Is miffed to discover he has been banned from the boardroom and directors' box at Southampton after apparently upsetting Saints officials by revealing Howe had turned down the manager's job. Southampton are also understood to be unhappy after Mitchell and his guests had left an unpaid bar bill at St Mary's following a Carling Cup tie between the clubs.
Dec 2010 Offers supporters free transport to Cherries' FA Cup replay at Notts County but is then alleged to have blotted his copybook when rumours emerge that he apparently entered the dressing room at half-time to voice his opinion on the team's display.
Jan 2011 Appoints Lee Bradbury as Howe's successor.
Feb 2011 Fires a broadside at Burnley and former boss Howe over their pursuit of Marvin Bartley.

Oct 2011 The Echo reports Mitchell is on the verge of joining forces with Russian multi-millionaire Maxim Demin.
Nov 2011 Mitchell announces the completion of a deal with Demin.
Jan 2012 He hands Bradbury a new contract and says he is the man to lead the club to the Championship.
Feb 2012 The Echo exclusively reveals that the wife of co-owner Demin had addressed the players during half-time of Cherries' defeat by MK Dons, with Mitchell confirming our story. Other media follow up the news and Mitchell lands himself in hot water after swearing during a BBC Radio 5 live interview. He is fined £1,500 by the FA.
Mar 2012 Gives Bradbury a vote of confidence before sacking him just days later. He also bans the Echo and appoints Paul Groves as caretaker manager.
May 2012 Is forced to defend the permanent appointment of Groves after disgruntled supporters react angrily to his unveiling.
Oct 2012 Sacks Groves as first-team manager and persuades Howe to return to the club.
Jan 2013 Insists marquee signing Frank Demouge is not a dud.
Mar 2013 Moves to reassure supporters over the club's financial position following a raft of redundancies.
Apr 2013 Celebrates the club's second promotion during his tenure when Howe leads them to the Championship.
July 2013 Insists promotion to the Premier League is the club's aim.
Sept 2013 Steps down as chairman and sells his shares to Demin.
