PARLEY batting star Mark Morley blitzed through the 1,000-run barrier for the league season – but the champions suffered a final day to forget.
Already crowned top-flight title winners, Parley saw their unbeaten record go up in smoke as Stalbridge stormed their Dean Park fortress on Saturday.
Morley passed his memorable run milestone with a boundary-laden knock of 115, which included no fewer than 25 fours.
But with Roshan Embalagama (23) and Matt Stickland (12) the only other men to reach double figures, Parley were dismissed for 203.
And led by Stuart Sweatman (60) and Rob Burfitt (76*), Stalbridge got home with five wickets to spare (Dom Clutterbuck 2-26, Sam Thomson 2-37).
Eric Linge starred with bat and ball as runners-up Ferndown Wayfarers completed their campaign with a 56-run victory at Swanage.
Leigh Dunham (63), Dean Elsworthy (42) and Linge (37) were the mainstays as Ferndown Wayfarers posted a modest 217.
But with Linge (4-26) and Neil Sexton (3-50) working their magic, it proved too many for Swanage who were stopped at 161 despite the best efforts of Ian Booth (51) and Matt Thomas (31).
Elsewhere, Poole Town claimed a narrow two-wicket win over Winton to pip Broadstone to third place following their 51-run defeat at Dorchester.
Chasing Winton’s 126, Poole Town scraped home at 127 for eight, while Broadstone were dismissed for 131 in pursuit of Dorchester’s 182.
Meanwhile, last year’s champions Wimborne & Colehill (86) ended a disappointing defence of their title with a heavy 117-run reverse at Weymouth (203).
