FIVE first-team players gained valuable game time as Cherries played out a 0-0 draw with Brighton in today’s development squad friendly.
Goalkeeper Ryan Allsop enjoyed a full 90-minute run-out, while new signing Adam Smith clocked up more than 70 minutes at right-back.
Winger Mohamed Coulibaly continued his comeback from Achilles and calf problems by playing for an hour with Shaun MacDonald and Ryan Fraser also making appearances.
Cherries created a number of chances but were unable to break down their purposeful visitors as boss Eddie Howe and assistant Jason Tindall looked on.
Summing up the action, Purches told the Daily Echo: “Brighton had a good, young team and both sides tried to get it down and play the right way.
"We passed the ball about well but didn’t quite have the cutting edge. We had some good opportunities but could not quite finish them off.”
Young defender Jonathan Muleba, a recent signing from Chelsea’s academy, partnered Baily Cargill at centre-half throughout, while fellow new boys Josh O’Hanlon and Ben Whitfield came on as second-half substitutes.
“All three youngsters adapted well,” added Purches. “Jonathan and Baily looked a good partnership, while Ben linked up well with Josh.”
Meanwhile, Josh Carmichael has joined Gosport Borough on a month-long loan while Jordan Chiedozie will stay with Poole Town for a third and final month.
Cherries: Allsop, Smith (Lindsay, 72), Muleba, Cargill, Bihmoutine, Wakefield, MacDonald (Gilkes, 72), Coulibaly (O’Hanlon, 60), Cornick, Goodship (Whitfield, 70), Fraser (Bassele, 72).
