INSPIRATIONAL skipper Steve Fletcher led from the front as Cherries climbed out of the danger zone before sounding out a relegation warning: "We're far from safe".

Fletcher played a starring role as Cherries ruined Sean umph over League One promotion hopefuls Doncaster at Dean Court on Saturday.

Former boss O'Driscoll watched his old club record their sixth win of the year thanks to goals either side of half-time from Brett Pitman and David McGoldrick.

But although victory saw Cherries claw their way out of the bottom four, Fletcher was adamant that Kevin Bond's charges would "certainly not be getting carried away."

He added: "We're not out of trouble and just because we've moved out of the relegation zone, it would be very naive to think we're safe. But neither the manager nor the senior players will allow that to happen.

"We've already had it two or three times this season where we've got our heads above water and sunk straight back under. It's going to be topsy-turvy until the end of the season and I'm just praying it doesn't go down to the last game.

"We usually keep our fans on their toes until the final game of the season but we don't want that to happen this year. We want to be out of danger well before then.

"We would be silly to think we're on Easy Street at the moment and we've got to keep picking up results to prove we're good enough to stay in this division."

Fletcher, meanwhile, claimed the O'Driscoll factor played only a small part in Cherries' impressive all-round display: "As professionals, you've got to give your best at all times and it doesn't matter who you're playing.

"It might add a little bit to your game when you come up against a former manager or a former club but no-one should ever give more in one game than another. The three points were the most important thing and it wouldn't have mattered who we were playing.

"I suppose it added a bit of spice for the supporters but once the whistle had gone, three points were up for grabs and we were playing Doncaster Rovers."

Fletcher, who was voted man of the match by sponsors Champion Materials Handling, was keen to share the plaudits with his team-mates: "It's always nice to receive the man of the match because I don't get too many!

"I said that if I had to pass it on, I would have given it to Karl Broadhurst or Josh Gowling. At the same time, I've got to mention Warren Cummings and Shaun Cooper.

"I thought they were all magnificent.

"I thought Broady was outstanding. He threw himself at everything and defended for his life, as did Josh. And the energy of Warren and Coops up and down the lines was a massive boost for us."
