FURIOUS boss Kevin Bond saw Cherries slump to another worrying defeat and then blasted his team for their "disastrous and diabolical" defending.
Cherries' capitulation against relegation rivals Northampton again set the alarm bells ringing as Bond's charges went down 3-1 at Sixfields on Saturday.
The Cobblers made the most of Cherries' defensive horror show and eased to victory thanks to goals from Jordan Robertson, Kenny Deuchar and Andy Kirk, with Marc Wilson replying.
"I was so disappointed with the way we conceded the goals," said Bond, whose side is still just two points above the League One drop zone.
"They scored with their only real attempt in the first half and then put two balls into the box in the second half and scored two more. It was far too easy."
Bond said midfielder Wilson had been "turned far too easily" by Robertson for his 17th-minute opener and laid the blame firmly at the door of his defenders for Town's second-half goals.
Big Scottish striker Deuchar was gifted a free header after 76 minutes before substitute Kirk netted from close range six minutes from time.
Bond said: "It was nothing short of disastrous defending when the big centre forward was eight yards from goal and nobody was within three yards of him.
"They were diabolical goals to concede. We could have had 11 at the back, but we just couldn't deal with the balls into the box."
Asked whether he put the goals down to individual errors or a fundamental problem, Bond replied: "I put it down to my centre-halves.
"It's about people being prepared to take responsibility and making sure they do their jobs and that other people do theirs.
"Their three centre-halves relished the battle but when balls came into our box, ours didn't instil me with a whole lot of confidence and that was disappointing.
"These are boys who have been here for years and they've got to do better than that. You are never going to win if you can't defend better than that."
