CHERRIES chairman Jeff Mostyn has finalised the club's board of directors with the appointment of David Musker, as predicted by the Daily Echo last week.

Mostyn and co-owner Steve Sly, who have a controlling interest in the club, have now put the finishing touches to their new four-man board.

Musker's appointment was confirmed following a meeting on Friday and he will join Mostyn, Sly and Ernie Battey on the board.

Battey was elected as the representative of the Community Mutual, while Musker was selected after being proposed by the supporters' trust.

Both Battey and Musker were an integral part of the negotiations in the lead-up to the consortium's buy-out of the club.

Mostyn told the Daily Echo last night: "The board is now complete. We had a board meeting on Friday and the fourth member, David Musker, was appointed.

"David is going to be responsible for the financial control of the club. We're absolutely delighted to have him on board because he is somebody with immense experience.

"He spent 16 years with Grant Thornton and has been giving independent advice to major companies in the area in the past few years.

"He brings an awful lot of experience and it confirms our commitment to supporting CM members on the board."

Derek Borthwick was the other CM member who was believed to be in the running, while the previous board - comprising Battey, Borthwick, Phil Hordle, Matt Ford and David Stone - was officially dissolved last week.
