WIMBORNE defender Paul Roast was sent off for two yellow cards as they were fortunate to hang on for a point.
Roast received his marching orders in the 80th minute after fifth-placed Fareham had Danny Boyle dismissed on the hour for foul and abusive language.
Dean Blake had given Fareham the lead with an early lob over Wimborne goalkeeper Stewart Kearn.
But Scott Joyce levelled by converting a penalty before the break after Stuart Cannie's cross had been handled by a defender.
Wimborne manager Paul Arnold said: "We just couldn't make the extra man count when we had 11 on the field and they had 10.
"We have to regard ourselves as lucky in the end because Fareham created four good chances in the second half.
"They should have taken the game."
Wimborne: Kearn, Arnold, Roast, Phillipson-Masters, Langrish, Culliford, Griffiths, Warren, Cannie (Thomson 75), Barnes, Joyce (Whitcher 65). Unused sub: Kenway.
