TOM Killick has insisted he will not be applying for the vacant Wimborne Town manager's position - ahead of the much-anticipated clash between his current and former club at Tatnam tonight (7.45pm).
The Poole Town boss, who has had three spells at Cuthbury and was a part of the 1992 FA Vase winning side, has been tipped as a possible replacement for outgoing boss Paul Arnold at the end of the season.
But Killick has denied any contact with the Magpies and stated that he will not be submitting an application for the post.
He told the Daily Echo: "Wimborne have made it clear that they will only be considering applications for the job and I will not be applying."
Asked if he would be interested in the job if the Magpies came knocking, he said: "I'd be very surprised if they did. By the sounds of it, they seem to be getting some high-quality applicants so it's unlikely they will want to go outside of that."
Paul Hardyman, who is the head coach at Portsmouth's centre of excellence, is known to have submitted an application and is ironically a former team-mate of Killick's during their days together at Salisbury.
Wimborne director Paul Miller, meanwhile, was remaining tight-lipped on the current names under discussion.
He said: "We've probably had around 15 applications so far and we'd consider 10 or 11 of those as serious.
"I'm amazed at some of the applications from people who are currently employed and would want to leave those jobs for this one. Five have come in from people at professional clubs."
One of those, Hardyman, will surely be on the short-list, while it is also believed that former Poppies boss Keith Williams, ex-Winchester manager Steve Tate and current Wimborne player Christer Warren are among the other applicants.
Poole add Stuart Brown to the squad that beat Christhurch 4-0 at the weekend, while the Magpies are still without Sam Percival as he recovers from a broken toe.
Poole: Frampton, Hogan, Neville, I Richardson, T Richardson, Sturgess, Whitley, Skelton, Funnell, Benssaouda, C Smith, T Smith, Glenister, Chivers, Cann, Reeves.
Wimborne: Kearn, Arnold, Phillipson-Masters, Roast, McCormick, Culliford, Warren, Cannie, Cousins, Thomson, Joyce, Whitcher, Barnes, Langrish, Moore, Bentley.
