CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe said all but sealing promotion at Dean Court had left him feeling “very emotional” as he again spoke about his late mother.

Howe’s mum Anne passed away suddenly following a short illness in March 2012 when her son was managing Burnley.

He said: “As always with mums and sons, she was my biggest supporter, regardless of what I did and how I played. Regardless of the scoreline when you are a manager, you always need someone to say “don’t worry, it will be okay”.

“The fact that she was always here in her seat behind me made it very emotional on Monday and, hopefully, she can see what has happened.”

In an interview with the Daily Echo in March, Howe said: “Mum always instilled in me about working hard, trying to make sure you were the best at what you did, making sure you lived with no regrets and seeing things through when you committed to them. I am very fortunate to have had the upbringing and discipline she instilled in me.

“After we had lost mum, I vowed to do everything I could to be successful in her memory. She sacrificed so much for us that I didn’t want to then see it fall away. “
