KEVIN Bond says he would "love" to take David McGoldrick on a season-long loan - but admits the prospect of the rising star returning to Dean Court is "unlikely".
McGoldrick netted his fourth goal in seven games as Cherries took a giant step towards securing their League One safety with a 2-0 win at Rotherham on Saturday.
His stunning 30-yard effort after 13 minutes put Cherries on course for their third successive league win as Bond's charges climbed eight points clear of the drop zone.
The 19-year-old also had a hand in Cherries' second goal when James Hayter followed up to score after his header from Darren Anderton's 28th-minute corner had been saved.
McGoldrick has made a huge impact since joining Cherries from Southampton six weeks ago and Bond says he would welcome him back for an extended loan next season.
Bond told the Daily Echo: "I would like it to be a possibility, but I'm not sure either David or Southampton will think the same. I would love to have him next season, but I can't see it happening.
"David is at a Championship club and wants to play for them at that level and that's what I want for him as well.
"But if that doesn't happen, for whatever reason, then we would be only too pleased to have his services because he can make a big difference.
"In tight games, you always need somebody who can do something like he can. He's a little bit different and a little bit special and he's won us a few points with his goals.
"You've only got to look at his goal against Rotherham. It was terrific and that's David McGoldrick all over. He can score goals out of nothing and I thought he was always a threat."
McGoldrick is the sixth-choice striker at St Mary's, with Marek Saganowski, Grzegorz Rasiak, Kenwyne Jones, Bradley Wright-Phillips and Leon Best all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Asked by the Daily Echo whether he would consider returning to Dean Court for another loan spell next season, McGoldrick said: "It wouldn't be up to me. It would be up to the managers of Southampton and Bournemouth."
McGoldrick added: "I was told to come here and get some games and goals under my belt and was confident I would do that.
"People didn't know if I could score in this league but I've come here and done that so hopefully they will realise I can do it.
"I'm not worrying about Southampton at the moment. I'm worrying about Bournemouth and hopefully I can get a few more goals and help get us safe."
Meanwhile, Bond is likely to earn a nomination for the manager-of-the-month award for League One after guiding Cherries to four victories during March. Gary Johnson at Bristol City and Blackpool's Simon Grayson should also be short-listed.
