RISING star Nicole Shering has received national recognition after being nominated as a Snowsport England dry slope ambassador.
The 16-year-old, who trains at Snowtrax in Hurn, will represent Snowsport England at artificial slopes across the country this summer and next winter.
Former Burgate School pupil Shering will inspire younger skiers as part of her remit in the newly-launched programme.
The Martin-based flier is one of 18 athletes who will perform the ambassador role and will have the chance to represent England against the other Home Nations.
Reflecting on her new position, Shering said: “I am really pleased to become a Snowsport England dry slope ambassador.
"I started skiing aged five at Snowtrax and developed my racing skills there. It will be great to inspire younger skiers to start skiing and racing."
Snowsport England director Tania Barton said: “These young athletes will not only perform valuable logistical roles at the artificial slopes but will also act as role models for younger skiers and, hopefully, inspire them to train hard and stay involved in the competitive skiing scene.
“Snowsport England set up this scheme to recognise the achievements of our athletes and to ensure they are part of inspiring the next generation of skiers.
"They will also play a huge part in growing and sustaining the buzz of UK dry slope skiing and racing.”
Shering would like to thank her main sponsor, Gresham Power Electronics, a Salisbury-based company, as well as Snowtrax and David Lloyd, Ringwood.
