KRZYSZTOF Kasprzak's hopes of reaching next year's Grand Prix series are hanging by a thread.

The Pirates number one yesterday managed just seven points in the Polish Golden Helmet final at Zielona Gora – an effective qualifier ahead of GP and Speedway European Championship qualifiers.

Kasprzak had already secured his spot in this year's SEC by virtue of his third-place finish last season but the 32-year-old had targeted a return to the world championship.

Six Polish riders are set to take part in GP qualifying, including one wild card, which may provide Kasprzak with a reprieve.

The top five in the Golden Helmet final were champion Przemek Pawlicki, Janusz Kolodziej, Piotr Pawlicki, Maksym Drabik and Patryk Dudek.

National boss Marek Cieslak has suggested Piotr Pawlicki may pull out of GP qualifiers while Dudek is unsure if he will take part.

Hans Andersen and Nicolai Klindt are due to compete in Denmark's GP/SEC qualifier at Slangerup tonight.

Klindt told his Facebook page: "This is probably the most important meeting for me this year.

"I consider myself very strong when it comes to individual events and I'm not going to Slangerup to go through, I'm there to win it."

Meanwhile, Jack Holder scored nine paid 10 in Peterborough's 50-40 loss at Sheffield last night.
