EDDIE Howe admitted he had been “very disappointed” with Cherries’ display during tonight’s 2-1 defeat by Burnley at Vitality Stadium.
Goals from Chris Wood and Robbie Brady gave the Clarets a deserved 2-0 lead before Joshua King’s 79th-minute strike proved a mere consolation.
Howe said: “It was a tough one to take in terms of our performance. I very disappointed with how we played.
“I didn’t think we got going at any stage of the game. Burnley did very well. I thought they were excellent and nullified our threats so you have to give them a lot of credit.
“But we have to look at us. We were below par with the ball, very disappointing technically and didn’t deliver the game we had wanted to.
“We never seemed to get our rhythm and didn’t open up the pitch like we normally do.
“I thought we tried to play in tighter areas than we had to and I didn’t see our patterns and identity that I always see.
“Usually, there is a clear plan. We had a plan but didn’t deliver it so we blame ourselves and give credit to the opposition as well.”
Clarets manager Sean Dyche said his team had deserved their win, even if it had spoiled Howe's 40th birthday celebrations.
He said: "I joked with him before the game about that but I didn't actually mean it.
"The work he's done here is absolutely amazing.
"We're similar in our beliefs in that he wants his players to work hard and a lot of the old-fashioned values. They're so important, certainly for me. I know he wants to play well, in his style, but to also work hard and give everything.
"I said to him before the game, 40 years old and 430-odd games as a manager, that's unbelievable.
"Sorry to ruin it for him tonight, but he'll survive!"
