BOSS Eddie Howe has highlighted the importance to Cherries of versatile performer Adam Smith.
The 26-year-old came on as a half-time substitute and sparked Cherries’ comeback in their 2-2 draw with Newcastle on Saturday.
A bargain £250,000 buy from Tottenham in January 2014, he netted his first goal since the opening day of last season to help Cherries salvage a point.
Smith had been in inspired form until a thigh injury forced him to miss Cherries’ wins over Chelsea and Stoke.
Howe said: “Adam is an outstanding full back and he made a really big difference down the left-hand side against Newcastle.
“He gave us energy, enthusiasm and quality and it was a lovely goal.
“He was going through a really good run of form before he got his injury.
"He played on the left-hand side against West Ham and Everton and was really good in those games.
"He was unfortunate to pick up an injury so we are delighted to have him back and I thought he showed his importance."
