EAST Dorset trio Alex Savage and Gregg and Bernie Shrosbree won the mixed team category when they took on 120 other teams at the Southwater Triathlon Sprint relay at Horsham, Sussex.

They were also seventh overall in an event in which each member of the team had to swim 400m, cycle 18.5km and run 3.8km before handing over to their team-mate.

Gregg Shrosbree, 16, took the first leg and emerged in third place behind GB internationals Richard Stannard and Emma Davis.

He was in sixth placed by the end of the cycle ride and stopped the clock at 54min 9sec as he handed over in ninth place to dad Bernie, himself an international triathlete.

Shrosbree senior completed his segment of the relay in 55min 12sec and the team were back up to seventh when Savage took over.

The former world championship swimmer produced a gutsy performance to complete the course in 56min 33sec to maintain the team's seventh place and secure the mixed team trophy.
