RINGWOOD Town let a two-goal lead slip at Horndean.

Jy Taylor's side looked odds-on to claim maximum points after James Finlay and an own goal put them 2-0 up inside the opening 20 minutes.

But Taylor admitted that hosts Horndean were worthy of a point after they hit back.

He said: "In fairness, 2-2 was probably fair because they had most of the possession.

"Overall we're building. We got ourselves a point and we need every point we can get at the moment.

"We were disappointed at the end which shows how far we've come in the last four weeks."

Taylor was in no doubt as to who the best performer on the pitch was, as he heaped praise on defensive midfielder Finlay.

"He was absolutely superb," said Taylor.

"He was playing a role just in front of the back four. He was the best player on the park by a mile."

Mike Carroll had three chances to increase Ringwood's tally but he missed two one-on-ones and saw a spectacular long-range volley fly just wide.

Taylor's side are still struggling at the wrong end of the Wessex Premier table, just one point and one place off the bottom.
