SHANE Ayres came off the bench to head a late winner for Cherries youth side at Swansea City.
Ayres, a 65th-minute substitute, left it late before nodding in at the end of a good move in the 88th minute.
Cherries head of youth Joe Roach was pleased with the way his charges adapted to a number of changes.
He said: "You can't ask for any more. I was really pleased with the attitude.
"We had to change a lot of things due to unavailability because of the first team, internationals and injuries.
"The lads adapted to it very well and started very brightly."
Both goalkeepers were called upon to make good saves during an even contest.
"I thought a draw would've been a fairer result but we'll take the goal and the points in the cup competition," said Roach.
"It gives us a bit to look forward to in the last two games."
The side have experienced mixed results in their Puma Youth Alliance Cup games to date, with two draws and two defeats before Saturday's win at Swansea.
Plymouth are next up for Cherries this weekend.
Cherries: Pryce, Queere, Stephenson, Franks, Newton, Whittingham, Finlay, Cooper, Davidson (Hill 58), Preston (Ayres 65), Hutchings (Kemble 24).
