REMEDY Oak star Henni Brockway gave her Curtis Cup hopes a big boost by winning two of her three games in a training match at North Berwick.

In fact, the 17-year-old was the only player in the Great Britain and Ireland girls team to feature in both points won during the 10-2 reverse against a strong LGU select side.

She partnered Lisa Maguire for a three-hole foursomes victory on Saturday and linked up with Carly Booth in the fourballs for a two-hole win the following day.

Brockway is one of nine English players who have been picked for the 18-strong Ladies' Golf Union squad which will prepare for 2008 team events, including the Curtis Cup at St Andrews.

Gillian Kirkwood, chairman of the international selection committee, said: "We have named a bigger squad than usual - 18 players - as five of them are American-based and one in Germany and these six might be unable to attend every session.

"It is an exceptionally strong squad and every player will have a realistic chance of being selected, even the younger players who this year have performed really well," she added.

Brockway fits perfectly into the best-performing youngster category by becoming the first English player to win the British Girls Championship since 1988 in August.

She also helped Europe to a 14-10 victory over the USA in the PING Junior Solheim Cup last month. Brockway chalked up a 2 and 1 victory over Tiffany Lua in the singles.

It is one of Brockway's goals to make the eight-strong team to play in the Curtis Cup before turning professional some time next year. Her next training session is at St Andrews in December.

The Curtis Cup against the holders USA is held over three days starting on May 31.
